Tata Motors will shift the entire production of its mini truck Ace and the passenger carrier variant of the vehicle, Magic, to Uttarakhand by next year.
"Currently, Ace and Magic are being produced from both Pune and Uttarakhand but the idea is to shift the total production to the latter unit," Ravi Pisharody, vice president (sales and marketing - commercial vehicles), Tata Motors, said today.
He said the shift would commence by the middle of next year. "We are expecting to utilise the full capacity of the Uttarakhand plant by the end of next year," Pisharody added.
The Uttarakhand plant has a production capacity of 2.25 lakh units per annum, and the company made an investment of Rs 1,000 crore in setting up the facility.
The company today launched its six-seater rural transportation vehicle Magic priced at Rs 2.68 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), and 9-13 seater maxicab Winger (Rs 4.67 lakh to Rs 6.67 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi) in north India.

धू-धू जल रहे जंगल, विभाग लापरवाह
घनसाली/पोखरी (टिहरीगढ़वाल)। गढ़वाल में जंगल धू-धू कर जल रहे है। आग से अब तक करोड़ों की वन संपदा जलकर राख हो गई। ग्रामीणों की आधा दर्जन से अधिक छानियां भी वनाग्नि की भेंट चढ़ गई, लेकिन वन विभाग आग को बुझाने के लिए कोई कार्रवाई नहीं कर पाया है।
घनसाली: भिलंगना प्रखंड के पट्टी भिलंग के ग्राम पोखार के ग्रामीणों की आधा दर्जन से अधिक छानियां वनाग्नि की चपेट में आ गई। ग्रामीण गब्बर सिंह रावत, सुरेन्द्र सिंह ने बताया कि कई दिनों से लगी आग से ग्रामीणों की सात छानियां वनाग्नि की चपेट में आने से जल कर राख हो गई व छानियों में रखा सामान भी स्वाह हो गया। वहीं कोटी फैगुल, नैलचामी, भिलंग व ग्यारह गांव हिंदाव, केमर पट्टी के चारों ओर के जंगल जलकर खाक हो रहे है। आग बुझाने के लिए कोई भी प्रयास नही किए जा रहे हैं। जबकि बीते दो सप्ताह पहले बालगंगा रेंज के जंगलों में लगी आग से गनगर गांव भी वनाग्नि की भेंट चढ़ गया था, लेकिन इसके बावजूद वन विभाग आग से बुझाने के बजाय होली के खुमार में मस्त रहा। यहां तक की वन विभाग ने घनसाली स्थित रेंज मुख्यालय के समीप लगी आग को बुझाने का प्रयास तक नही किया। युवा नेता विजयपाल कैंतुरा ने बताया कि प्रखंड के जंगलों में कई दिनों से आग लगी हुई है, लेकिन विभाग इस ओर कोई ध्यान नही दे रहा है। पोखरी: नागनाथ रेंज में लगी आग से वन संपदा को भारी क्षति पहुंच रही है। होली के पर्व पर, तीन दिन के अवकाश के कारण वन विभाग के कर्मचारी कहीं भी आग बुझाते हुए नहीं दिखे। नागनाथ रेंज के त्रिसूला बीट के रैंसू जंगल में तीन दिन से लगी आग कई हैक्टेयर जंगल को लील गई है। समाचार लिखे जाने तक किसी भी स्तर से आग पर काबू नही पाया जा सका था। दूसरी ओर, मोहनखाल के समीप पैरखाल क्षेत्र में भी आज सुबह दस बजे जंगल में आग लग गई है।

Five decomposed bodies detected in Uttarakhand glacier
Dehradun, Sep 20 : As many as five decomposed bodies, including that of a foreign women were discovered by a Trekking team in Chamoli District of Uttarakhand.
Chamoli SP Pushkar Singh Sailal told UNI yesterday that the skeletons were discovered at Harshil -Mana trekking route between Kalindikhal and Arwataal by a trekking team from Lucknow, who informed the Army patrolling team.Later the Army informed to the district authority.
The altitude of the area where bodies were sighted was estimated to be between 12,000 to 17,000 ft high. The bodies had been reduced to a skeletal form and were possibly one and a half years old the SP said.
According to police looking at the long golden hair on one of the bodies led to the possibility it was of a a foreign women,but the facts could be established only after bodies were recovered.
He apprised that a team, comprising Indo Tibetan Border Police and Revenue Police,was being formed to recover the bodies,and could set out left this evening.The area is difficult to reach, so the team has to camp in various places from Badrinath onwards to reach the actual spot, he added.
Meanwhile Tourism Minister Prakash Pant,confirming the discovery of bodies, said all reports were based on speculations so far and facts would only be established after recovering the corpses.

Khanduri wins assembly bypoll
DEHRADUN/JAMSHEDPUR: BJP workers set off fireworks in Uttarakhand's capital Dehradun on Sunday after chief minister B C Khanduri ensured his passage to the state assembly by winning a bypoll from Dhumakot.
In a Lok Sabha byelection in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, Suman Mahato of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) defeated her BJP rival to win the seat, held by her husband Sunil Mahato, who was killed by Maoists in March.
Khanduri defeated Surendra Singh Negi of Congress by 14,171 votes. The chief minister polled 22,708 votes against Negi's 8,537 votes. Riding on a sympathy wave, Suman, who was backed by the ruling UPA alliance in Jharkhand, won against Dinesh Sarangi of BJP by 58,814 votes. Suman got 2,93,003 votes while Sarangi received 2,34,189 votes.
"The victory is a tribute to my husband," said Suman after the result was declared. BJP leaders in Dehradun said Khanduri would now resign from the Lok Sabha, where he represents Pauri. With the CM's victory, the BJP now has 36 seats in Uttarakhand assembly. Congress has 20 seats and BSP 8.

19 killed as bus plunges into gorge in Tehri
At least 19 persons were killed and 23 injured when the bus in which they were travelling feel into a deep gorge near Ghansali in Tehri district of Uttarakhand on Sunday.
According to district officials, the accident occurred around 9 a.m. when the driver of the bus lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a sharp curve. The vehicle was on its way to Ghansali from Guttu in the district. While 17 persons died on the spot, two succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.
Administrative and police officials have rushed to the spot to supervise the rescue operation. A magisterial inquiry has also been ordered into the accident.
“We have managed to recover 13 bodies while another five are still trapped under the vehicle. Efforts are on to recover the bodies,” said Tehri district magistrate G.S. Joshi.
The DM added: “Eight of the 23 injured are serious and have been rushed to Dehradun for specialised treatment."
The rest have been admitted to government hospitals in Srinagar and Rishikesh.
Chief Minister B.C. Khanduri has announced a compensation of Rs 50,000 each to the next of kin of the deceased, Rs 25,000 to those seriously injured and Rs 5,000 to those with minor injuries.

19 die in road mishaps in Uttarakhand
Dehra Dun, Aug. 30 (PTI): At least 19 people were killed and 31 others injured in separate road accidents in Uttarakhand, official sources today said.
Eight people were killed and 23 others injured when a bus fell into a ditch after being hit by boulders from a hilltop at Guilo village in Chamoli district this morning. Rescue operation have been launched in the area. Chief Minister B C Khanduri expressed shock over the accidents and asked district authorities to provide the best medical care.
In a separate mishap in Kanarichhina are of Almora district yesterday, a jeep carrying 17 passengers fell into a 200-meter deep khud killing nine of them. Eight others were also injured in the incident.
Two women were washed away in the fast currents of a Ganga canal near Rishikesh after the motorcycle on which they were riding met with an accident and fell into it. However, the man, who was driving the bike managed to swim to safety.
The government has ordered a compensation of Rs 50,000 to all the victims.

Uttarakhand's BJP Govt, to promote 'gomutra'
Dehra Dun, Aug. 19 (PTI): Close on the heels of its ban on cow slaughter, the BJP Government in Uttarakhand is set to promote 'gomutra' or cow urine for use in ayurvedic medicines.
Due to the urine's reportedly unique properties, including the presence of anti-carcinogenic agents, the government will set up cooperative societies to collect gomutra that will be sold to yoga guru Baba Ramdev for use in his pharmacy, Animal Husbandry Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said.
Ramdev evinced interest in buying the urine for his Haridwar-based Divya Yoga pharmacy that produces ayurvedic formulations using gomutra, said Rawat.
"The government has received a proposal from Ramdev and we are seriously considering it," he said.
Ramdev is ready to buy the urine at the rate of Rs five to Rs six a litre, sources said.
"I met Acharya Balkrishna, who is in-charge of Divya Yoga pharmacy, regarding the deal," Rawat told PTI.
Since cow urine does not decay for 10 to 15 days, the government is also thinking of setting up a urine bank.
A special awareness programme on cow urine will be launched in villages across the state, Rawat said.
Last month, the state government enacted a law banning cow slaughter. Violations of the law are punishable with prison terms ranging from three to 10 years and with fines of up to Rs 10,000.
