Alert in Uttarakhand wildlife areas

Dehradun (PTI): An alert has been sounded in the wildlife areas of Uttarakhand amid reports that poachers are targeting endangered species in the state.

The alert came after the wildlife department received some intelligence reports that three Bawaria gangs were roaming in the state. Each gang comprising five to six persons are also taking the help of some locals, the reports said.

Chief Wildlife Warden S K Chandola said forest guards are being instructed to maintain a high vigil particularly in those areas which are vulnerable to poaching.
